Community
Opportunities for development within the local, business, national and global community, including:
- Project management of global, national or regional initiatives
- Project management of local initiatives
- Participation in local projects
Reading Junior Chamber considers community projects an important area that we cover and members always show great enthusiasm for running these projects and offering a helping hand.
These projects give members the opportunity to manage and run projects, get involved within the local community and have fun!
Our most popular project is the Christmas Tree Appeal. We go along to local shopping centres and ask people to donate a Christmas present for children who are under the local social services care. We have managed to raise over 1,000 presents each year we have run it. A very worthwhile cause and a true achievement.
We also assist with a charity that organises for children from the surrounding areas of Chernobyl to visit the UK for rest, recuperation and fun. We organise an outing for them, help them out at their other outings and organise some sponsorship to assist.
If you have any other projects which you would like to run please let us know, we are always willing to consider other areas.
JCI Reading organises annual competitions in debating and public speaking. These are always enjoyed and we hope Reading's members will do well in these competitions.'
