For the last six years Nick Forgham has been a full-time health therapist, helping people with all types of health issues. He specialises in the “stress syndrome” Fight and Flight, which is also known as the Survival Response. In the short term, being in Fight or Flight gives us a useful adrenalin rush, alters our blood flow, our hormones, how we think, and even how we see! This helps us to fight with or escape from the “tiger”.
However modern-day stressors are more pervasive and the tigers come in many forms (recession, war in Iraq, financial pressures, negative media, poor quality food etc) meaning that we can be “stuck” in Fight or Flight. It is here that the body works against us.
He’ll be explaining what this means for us in terms of stress, what the symptoms are such as effects on digestive system, sugar cravings and adrenal burnout, and what we can do about it.
