Impromptu Speaking Workshop
Date: Thursday 14th January, 2010
Venue:
David Jones returns to JCI Reading to present another of his brilliant workshops. Places are limited but register your interest now as further workshops will be arranged as appropriate to meet demand.
Having several weeks to prepare a presentation can be nerve-racking enough. But do you feel panic-stricken if you are called upon to speak in public at a moment’s notice? How often have you heard an impromptu speaker give a faltering, unconvincing, or incoherent speech? This is not a “sit and listen” seminar but a highly interactive, fast-paced workshop. During the workshop you will make up to six short presentations and will receive feedback after every one. You will practice techniques that will help you to: (1) overcome your nerves, (2) think on your feet, and (3) deliver confident and well-argued responses.
David Jones trained as a zoologist, and studies rainforest ecology. In 1996, while between contracts as a research biologist, he found temporary work as a trainer. This developed into an enjoyable second career, with David now spending up to half his time writing and presenting seminars and training courses for public and private sector clients. He is most passionate about helping people to improve their public speaking skills. David has won numerous public speaking awards and was the Toastmasters’ UK & Ireland Impromptu Speech champion in 2004 and 2008, and runner-up in 2006. He is also a frequent after-dinner speaker.
This training session is £18 per person and lasts 2 hours, Please be aware as of 10/12/09 there are only 4 spaces avaliable, pre-booking is required.
